Warrior Epic = Warrior Fails

Category: Life

I try a lot of different MMOs.  Usually it’s either in Beta or right after they are released.  I was quite surprised when Massively covered the release of Warrior Epic…I had not heard of this title before there post…

After downloading it, struggling to get the client to let me in, and then trying it…I understand why.  It’s another click to move, korean style mmo.  No thanks.

That’s another one crossed off my list.  Now if only a good PvP mmo would come out already.

Time to refocus?

Category: Learning, Life

I’ve been plagued lately…way to much going on.  I have been really struggling with it.  Enter Leo.  I happened to be watching something on Twit.tv, and he discussed a book.  A book about focusing, and getting ‘the spinners’, as we used to call them, out of your head.  Since the method I’ve been using at work, isn’t really working, I thought I’d try something different.

I’m reading the book now, and hoping to come up with some semblance of organization, so that I can move forward with my plans…even if that means dropping a site or two from the list.  In all things, some items must be cut, in order to survive.

Only time will tell.

Lists, Lists, Lists

Category: Life

I took some time today, and made a list of all the things I need to do to get my various projects to line up…and boy it was a lot of stuff.  Looking at everything I have to do, I’m hoping i can finish one or two of them up before Summer is over but I’m not holding my breath.

I still need to find some writers to focus on PvP related things, some coders for a brilliant idea my brother came up with, and a decent way to host the hardware I’m about to bring online in our house.  Should be a challenging couple of months.

Oh well, at least I’ll keep busy.

Friday Recap – 2009-04-10

Category: Life, Work

Friday recap sounds like a good idea to me…in my push to write more, and keep myself on track, this sounds like a great way to look back at the week, figure out what I’ve done, what i still have to do, and plan my next week.

Work is finally calming down.  I’ve finished rebuilding our Proof of Concept test environment for the most part, and just need to finish testing this weekend.  Once that’s done we’ll be in a bit of a lull for the next few months, which will be nice…at least that’s what I’m hoping…I could really use a break from the 14+ hour work days.

I’ve ordered 2 machines to act as servers, one AD DC, and one LAMP box.  Should have those next week…now i just need to work with Kelly to get the shelf built and in place so i have a spot for the new machines.

Once those are in place I’ll start working with Chris on designing the new sites we’re working on, and try to get those rolled out in the next few months.  After that, it’s content time.  Yaay!

Hope everyone has a good Easter weekend, regardless if they celebrate Easter or not.

Current Status of my multiple projects!

Category: Learning, Life, Work

Ok, I know I haven’t written anything in a while…I’ve been swamped.

Between building a proof of concept lab at work, having it erased, and then having to re-create the whole thing in 3 days…yea I haven’t had much time to just sit down and write.

Then something great happened…I stumbled upon a nice tool from Microsoft…apparently they have good ideas every once in a while.  I’m not using Windows Live Writer to update the various blogs i have going currently…it’s working well, and I’m hoping it will allow me to start updating at least this blog on a more regular basis.

I also have a ton of projects in the works, and hope to update my project page tomorrow sometime…we’ll just have to see how that goes.  I’ve also been doing a lot of reading, bought a bunch of books for my new kindle, and I’m trying to get them all read.  You can see what I’m reading here.  I will however start trying to at least post a few times a week out here, if for no other reason than to track my project progress.

Tomorrow I’m going to try and find a good way to track project progress online, and share it with the people I’m working with…my only hope is that it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.

Have a good night.

Eagle Eye

Category: Life

I watched eagle eye last night, and while i realize that technically it was not even close to accurate, I still thoroughly enjoyed the movie. some people have a hard time suspending their beliefs when watching something like that, i don’t. i just enjoy the movie for what it is, and this was one of the movies i enjoyed. not enough to buy it on blu-ray but enough to have watched it.

it was a good way to end sunday night.

a few minor things…

Category: Life

So, I finally watched Dark Knight…and I watched it in Blu-Ray. Freaking awesome…not only was Heath Ledger the best Joker I can imagine, but that movie was awesome…like greatest movie ever kind of awesome.

I also had enough time to finish the christmas shopping with chris, and watch Wanted with her…also a good movie, allbeit not as ’serious’ but still a good movie…
